Physicians

Ryan Mathew
MD, MBA

Dr. Ryan Mathew completed his MD degree at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. He finished his internal medicine residency at NorthShore University HealthSystem in Evanston IL. After completing residency, Dr. Mathew finished a rheumatology fellowship at The Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, OH. While at The Ohio State University, he completed an MBA, and pursued an advanced fellowship in lupus and vasculitis. Furthermore, he had also conducted quality improvement projects and research investigating the safety profile of combination biologic treatments.

Dr. Mathew chose rheumatology given his passion for helping others, and interests in immunology and other rheumatic diseases. In his spare time, Dr. Mathew enjoys running, reading, and traveling.

Richard Jones MD, PhD

Dr. Jones finished his initial two years of medical school and obtained a PhD in cell biology/immunology at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine. He completed his MD degree at UAB (Tuscaloosa) in 1994. He then trained in internal Medicine at Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham, including serving a year as a Chief Resident. In 2000 he completed specialty training in UAB’s Division of Clinical Immunology/Rheumatology and has been practicing in Tuscaloosa since that time. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology.

Donna Maniece MD 

Dr. Donna Maneice is a native of Alabama. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in Medical Technology and her medical degree at the University Of Alabama School Of Medicine. She completed an internship and residency at UAB Montgomery Internal Medicine Residency Program. She then went on to Duke University where she completed a fellowship in Rheumatology in 1994.   Dr. Maneice’s research interest was in the area of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus. 

Dr. Maneice practiced in Columbus, MS before joining the faculty of UAB Montgomery Internal Medicine Residency Program where she was Assistant Professor and Head of Rheumatology. She continued in this capacity and participated in research in the areas of Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and COX-II Inhibitors.  She served on the volunteer faculty of UAB Montgomery Internal Medicine Residency Program from 2003 to 2007. 

 

She practiced in Peachtree City, Georgia before moving back to her home state of Alabama. 

 

Dr. Maneice joined the Clinic for Rheumatic Diseases in 2016 where she continues her practice in the area of rheumatology with special interests in autoimmune diseases and osteoporosis.  With the wonderful staff of CRD, she has truly found her place in the rheumatology world.

 

She is board certified in Rheumatology and holds permanent Licensure/Certification in the states of Alabama and Georgia.

 

Outside of medicine, Dr. Maneice enjoys spending time with family especially her young grandson. As she travels a lot, she passes her time by enjoying a good action or mystery book on Audible books.

 She is an avid tennis player and enjoys competing and traveling with her tennis friends.

Nurse Practitioners

Lisa Ryan

Lisa Ryan is a board certified family nurse practitioner. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Alabama in 1991 and received a Master of Science in Nursing degree in the Family Nurse Practitioner program from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2000. She worked with Dr. Jones from 2001 through 2006 then returned in January of 2019. Lisa is a Tuscaloosa native. She and her husband, Marshall, reside in Coker, AL. She enjoys traveling, collecting rare house plants, baking, and spending time with her family, friends, and many pets. She also enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, snow skiing and scuba diving.
